HOME COMMUNICATOR

Welcome back! I hope our students, teachers, and staff had a restful and refreshing break as we enter the school year’s final quarter. I always look forward to hearing about spring break adventures—whether families traveled far or stayed close to home. A common thread in these stories and photos is the beauty of God’s creation. From ocean views in Florida to hikes through the Smoky Mountains, skiing in Colorado, or sunrises over the Grand Canyon, God’s design is on full display. Even those who stayed nearby found joy at the zoo or local parks, witnessing the beauty right in our backyard.

This is what God the LORD says — the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it.

Isaiah 42:5 NIV

Whatever your family did over break, I hope you had a chance to pause and take in the beauty, creativity, and intricate design of what God has made. There’s something about nature that stirs awe, wonder, and a desire to know our Creator more deeply. Scripture reminds us that the world around us speaks of God’s glory, goodness, and love.

At Hudsonville Christian, we’re blessed to witness this every day. Our Nature-Based preschoolers explore rain or shine, while our younger elementary students participate in Outdoor Education in the front nature space. This year, my own children enjoyed trips to a maple syrup farm and Hemlock Crossing Park. Meanwhile, our middle schoolers head to Hughes Park for PE and make the most of the new naturescape during outdoor breaks.

As spring blooms around us, I pray you take moments to truly see and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation. Whether it’s a colorful sunset, a surprise rainbow, or a quiet walk in nature, may these glimpses serve as powerful reminders of His presence, love, and promises.

Faces and Our Culture Opportunity

Our school has been part of an amazing cultural exchange program for Guatemalan students for years, and we’re excited to keep it going! Faces And Our Cultures provides Guatemalan students with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in our community for eight enriching weeks. During their stay, these ambassadors will fully integrate into our school community and participate in all school activities. The program runs from Sunday, October 19 – Saturday, December 13.

To become cultural ambassadors, participants undergo a thorough selection process and extensive preparation throughout the year. Each child will be matched with a student close in age and same gender. The host family provides homestay for 8 weeks, making them part of the routine, activities, rules, curfews, and house chores as another member of the family. School kindly provides lunches, school materials, and school related activities.   For those interested in learning more about the Faces program, please register here for more information.

Earth Day PaperGator Contest

We have a chance to earn up to $5,000.00 for our school by collecting as much paper in our PaperGator as we can from January through April!  It’s called the PaperGator Earth Day Contest!  Spread the word to your family and friends to fill up the middle school PaperGator located in the west parking lot off of the bus loop.
